My favorites are the mini pastries at Maria's - in particular the expensive but oh!-so-worth-it pignoli nut cookies. No one makes them better - not even in NYC (I once did a taste test). I always get 4 of those and then fill the box with the mini canolis, eclairs, napoleons, cream puffs, Sfogliatelle, etc. At a party, people love the variety. There is something for everyone. They have very good sesame cookies and cakes, too. I like the Italian cheese cake, which is not easy to find.

My other favorite is the almond biscotti. No one else makes them so good - not too sweet, lots of flavor and great crunch. Nothing you buy at a gourmet store will equal this. Nonni's - forgetaboutit. Maria's biscotti is the best.
